If you're after a web host, then this could be a pretty good place to start. Providing a selection of the top hosting sites, WPdesigner lets you compare and contrast what you need in a web host; be it price, disk space available, reliability or whether you get a free domain name thrown in with your order.

I've used a few hosts over the years and most of my decisions have been based on word of mouth recommendations from friends, colleagues and vague acquantainces; which works well for me as most of them are pretty reliable, but if you're unsure where to start looking, this is quite a hanyd litle site to go to for background.

The site itself is nice and clear, it gives you the information you'll need to make an educated decision on your hosting package and it also has lots of handy links for those other bits that you don't know you'll need until you've started tinkering with your internet life: Wordpress themes, a bit of CSS, handy little guides to e-commerce and an actually pretty handy "how to" guide to choosing a web designer.

There's actually a pretty good 'tips' page as well that's given me a couple of ideas for how to handle the next projects that come along; a pleasant surprise to someone as old and battered in webmonkeying as I am!
